Spring Summer 2012 Colours

I've looked at the key colours for Spring/Summer 2012 using WGSN.

"As red no longer takes centre stage, we see a move towards orange tones, from warm shades of peach, apricot and washed coral to brighter shades of orangeade and vermilion." - WGSN.

"Vanilla and lemon are key for this season's pastel palette, for pretty girly looks and in combination with white. Brighter shades of sunny yellow are key for sporty looks and are complementary alongside bright turquoise and white. Use old gold for decorative or shiny fabrications."

"Aquatic blues dominate the palette, from pale blue and seafoam to bright turquoise, ultramarine and navy. Working as standalone colours for tonal colour-blocking, use blues across all product categories and all trends. For a new direction, team cooler tones with pale pinks, peach and lemon, complement brighter shades with vivid yellow or toughen up with black. "

"A fresh palette of greens, with a shade from all levels of the spectrum. Cool shades of mint work with this season's pastel palette, in combination with white, lemon and candy pinks. In contrast, vivid emerald, grass and bright lime are key for high summer stories."

"Pinks return as a key colour for the season, with every shade available from pale powder to blue-cast bubblegum, orange-tinged salmon and true Barbie pink. Team with seafoam, mint and turquoise."

"Complementing the strong pink palette and fondant pales that are dominating this season, lilac and lavender are an exciting addition."

"A small selection of browns this spring/summer - we find rustic and dark chocolate working well in combination with pale eggshell, yellow and green-tinged neutrals, and nude."

"Pure white is an important colour message this season, especially as the shirt became the "key item" for minimal or sportswear looks. Greys are cooler with mist and slate."
